Michael Tuttle

Owner/Head Coach

Coach Mike has always been drawn to anything athletic, participating in sports for most of his life. While at Slippery Rock University, Mike wrestled at the Division 1 Level, which taught him a lot about the dedication and sacrifice it takes to be a successful athlete. After graduating with a BS in Sports Management, he began coaching wrestlers and knew his future was with helping others reach their athletic and performance goals. In 2006 he attained a training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and began his training career at Bally Fitness where it wasn’t long before he started hearing about Crossfit. When he began doing benchmark WODs and following the mainsite programming, he saw the effectiveness of Crossfit and he started incorporating the Crossfit methodology of “varied, functional movements performed at a high intensity” into his clients’ personal training sessions. In 2008, Mike met Coles and they began piecing together the dream that eventually would become Crossfit South Hills. These days as a father of three, Mike understands how to balance family life, work, and staying fit. He helps his clients find that balance as well by being a supportive, dedicated coach who gives each person he coaches the tools to help them reach their fitness goals, whatever they may be. Coach Mike has experience training individuals of every age and degree of fitness—from stay-at-home moms just looking to get in shape; to collegiate level football, hockey, lacrosse, and soccer players looking to take their performance to the next level. He also coaches youth level sports and older adults just looking to maintain their strength and mobility as they age.

Nicole Voelzke aka “Coles”

Owner/Head Coach

Everyone's fitness journey begins somewhere, and for Coles, it began a little later than many others. Starting from scratch with no previous athletic experience, she was by no means "a natural athlete" when she started, but quickly became addicted to the wide variety of elements in the CrossFit program and always having new goals to shoot for. After a years of failed attempts at getting fit on her own, it was only through CrossFit that she found a program that she could stick with.

CrossFit not only made her stronger physically, but also helped her develop a healthier body image and relationship with food, which she struggled with for most of her life. Eight years later, this busy mom of 2 now works to share her passion with others, always striving to broaden her knowledge of coaching, programming, and nutrition to help clients become the best version of themselves possible--Inside of the gym, and out.

Melissa Ondesko

Melissa has been involved in the fitness industry since graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998 with a degree in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition. As someone who has been active throughout her life, she has been involved in road and trail running, road cycling, adventure racing, and is always looking for a race or competition to get involved in. Three years ago, she wanted to “see what CrossFit is all about”, and Google led her to CrossFit South Hills’ On Ramp program. After the first WOD, she was hooked, and continued to pursue CrossFit for her own growth in fitness, recently embarking on her journey as a Crossfit coach looking to inspire others in the sport. Melissa is a firm believer in core strength and mobility, and is happy to bring her extensive experience to classes here at CFSH.

“I have worked in fitness for over 20 years, and I have done it all- step aerobics, body sculpt, Spinning, kickboxing, Zumba, boot camp, you name it. CrossFit is the first type of group fitness that has not only changed my physique, but has truly made me stronger, taught me new skills, and introduced me into a community of amazing people who I am proud to associate with. I can’t imagine not being in the community!”
